Why USA general insurance is important
Posted by admin in Expert Advice on 12 27th, 2008| | Comments Off

In these times of uncertainty, USA general insurance is a very important fact for the traveler.

Lost, late or stolen luggage can be a major problem for the traveler. These sort of problems need to be dealt with immediately. At the airport, you need to go immediately to the customer service counter and make your complains known. It is always advisable to have your documentation, such as baggage claim tickets, ready when you get there. In case you can not solve your problem there, you should start to document your experience and write down flight numbers, places, times, names of persons spoken to and other relevant information you can obtain from the airline. You can then start a formal complain with the airline. You can also use the On-line Complaint Form at
AirSafe.com and they will forward your complaint to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

On May 19th 2008 a new, revised Bumping Compensation Compensation Plan by the Department of Transportation, has been put in order.

The maximum allowable compensation is 100% of the passengers one-way fare, or the next stop-over, for a flight delayed between one and two hours, with a maximum $200 additional cash compensation. Should the Airline be unable to get the passenger to their destination within two hours (four hours on International flights), the compensation rate jumps to 200% and a maximum $400 cash benefit.
Compensation’s are in addition to the value of tickets. Tickets can be used for alternate transportation or be turned in for refund.

It is important for you as the traveler to get information from the airline he or she are using, each airline has it’s specific set of guidelines for flight delays, overbooking and lost or damaged luggage. Travelers should make it a point to get these guidelines at the time of ticket purchase to be informed should a problem arise.

It is always a good idea to check for additional Insurance you can buy.

Insuremytrip.com lets you compare different companies and coverage. Additional insurance cost can run between 5 and 12 percent of your ticket. The most complete insurance coverage is known as “Comprehensive Insurance” and covers just about anything from medical emergencies to lost luggage and trip cancellations.

In-country, policies vary from State to State and not all insurance companies are licensed in every state. Ask questions, read the fine print and get information before purchasing a policy.

You may want to check with your Credit Card issuer, before you purchase USA general insurance, yours may offer a limited trip cancelation coverage for flight purchased with that card.

Some insurance companies will not cover certain airlines and/or trips to selected destinations. Make sure your trip is covered before buying.

Why is USA general insurance important?
Posted by admin in Expert Advice on 12 27th, 2008| | Comments Off

This is a valid question with many appealing answers. Traveler’s insurance is a wise decision when it comes to giving you peace of mind, by deciding to invest in traveler insurance you are assuring your covered in the event that something goes awry. The reasons for this type of coverage are similar to the reasons for homeowners insurance, or car insurance, misfortune happens, and you need protection when it does.

The typical USA general insurance costs about five to seven percent of the cost of the trip. Now I know your thinking taking a trip costs more than enough, so you’ll just pass on the insurance. This very well cold be a big mistake, and unfortunately, one that can cost you a lot more than that original five to seven percent we previously discussed. We all want to get the most for our money, which is why you’ll be happy to know, you most certainly can shop around for the best price for your dollar. In fact there are many wonderful resources on-line that can enable you in finding the right coverage for you.

We really need to disscuss what this type of insurance typically covers, I think you’ll be pleasently surprised. Here is a taste of what you could save yourself from with this insurance:

MEDICAL EXPENSES
EMERGENCY EVACUATION
OVER SEAS FUNERAL EXPENSES
ACCIDENTAL DEATH,INJURY OR DISABLEMENT
CANCELLATION
CURTAILMENT
DELAYED DEPARTURE
LOSS, THEFT OR DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY AND MONEY
DELAYED BAGGAGE
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
PERSONAL LIABILITY AND RENTAL CAR DAMAGE EXCESS

So you see this coverage is rather detailed, and can be a life saver in the event of one of the above. We all hope to travel problem free, and a lot of times we can and do. Although my suggestion is, USA general insurance is the way to go, you will save yourself time , money and a rather large hassel in the event of any of the above, if you protect yourself. It is not a requirement to invest in this insurance, only a helpful suggestion, to all those who are questioning it’s benefits. Now you may want to know what you would need to file a claim, well that depends on the type of claim. So fellow travelers, lets go over in more detail what you’ll need for each claim, shall we.
TRIP CANCELLATION: copy of brochure showing cancellation comditions, copy of refund check,or credit, proof of payment, proff for reasons of the claim and invoice including trip cost
TRIP INTERRUPTIONCLAIMS: copy of tickets, copy of payment for additional airfair, proof of reason for filing
TRAVEL DELAY: itinierary outlining trip, proof of reason for claim, reciepts for additional expenses

MEDICAL EXPENSES: original reciepts, any other documants you hold on diagnosis for condition
BAGGAGE LOSS/DELAY: original reciepts for items, proof of travel, list of claimed items
RENTERS COLLISIONS CLAIMS: original renters agreement, proof of travel, copy of damage report, report showing payment of damages, copy of police report
Now this may seem like a lot of information to gather in the event you do have to file a claim, but consider the expenses out of your pocket if you lack coverage. Please keep in mind all insurance company’s carry their own policy’s and guidlines for what’s needed to file a claim, and what is covered. The above is a general overview of what you can recieve from a trvelers insurance company. I am sure even from this general overview you can most certainly see the benifits of this type of insurance.

Inevitability
Posted by admin in Expert Advice on 12 27th, 2008| | Comments Off

We all inevitably have the need to travel. Ideally all will go as planned but complications, such as trip delays, tend to arise. Travel USA general insurance gives you peace of mind in knowing that the financial aspect of these unfortunate incidents is covered.

“Lost Luggage” USA general insurance provides you with reimbursement for lost, stolen or damaged luggage. In the event of lost luggage, report the incident to the airline immediately. They will provide you with a “Property Irregularity Report” and a “Claim and Complaint Report” against the airline.

Contact your USA general insurance provider as soon as possible. They will send you a “Claim Form”. They will need copies of the reports that the airline gave you. Your receipts for emergency purchases, as well as a detailed list of the contents of your luggage, will also be requested. They will suggest that you send receipts for the lost luggage contents. If you don’t have receipts for everything that was in your luggage, you need not worry. An Adjuster from the USA general insurance company will estimate the value for you. You will want to submit your claim promptly in order to expedite the claim process.

Some tips:

1) Verify the maximum amount covered before packing. If your policy will only cover you for $1000 you may be wise to leave your valuables at home or you could pack them in your carry on.
2) Snap pictures of the contents of your luggage to remind you of what you packed.
3) Check the destination code on your bags. Human error may send your luggage to another destination.
“Passenger Rights”or “Contract of Carriage” vary slightly for different airlines. These policies outline your contract with the airline.
Compensations from the airline for cancellations or delays are not mandatory. However, if the airline has delays due to any reasons within their control (mechanical or overbooking issues) they may compensate. Typically the airline will provide alternate travel arrangements or they will give you a refund on your tickets. Should the delay extend past regular meal hours, they may provide you with a meal voucher. Lodging may also be provided should the flight be delayed for more than 4 hours overnight. In the event of a “Force Majeure Event” (inclement weather or terrorist alerts, etc), your flight may be delayed or cancelled with NO compensation other than reimbursement for your tickets. This is a case where your USA general insurance would definitely come into play.
“Trip Cancellation” USA general insurance will provide reimbursement for non-refundable trip payments and deposits if a trip needs to be cancelled for reasons such as illness, injury or death. “Trip Delay” USA general insurance will provide reimbursement for meals, transportation, lodging and emergency phone calls should your trip be delayed.
After all is said and done, air travel in itself can be a very stressful experience. Although it may cost slightly more, the benefits of USA general insurance far outweigh the minimal cost incurred. Hopefully you will never need to use it but should any situations arise that are out of your control, you will be comforted in the fact that you need not worry…you are covered.

Life happens.
Posted by admin in Expert Advice on 12 27th, 2008| | Comments Off

Sometimes, life happens at the most inconvenient times. If you have an emergency arise right around vacation time, or during your travels, not being properly prepared can make a bad situation seem much worse.

No one likes to think about the possibility of things going wrong when they are booking their dream vacation, however, plans can be cancelled, medical emergencies can arise, luggage can be lost or stolen, and departures can be significantly delayed. When the unthinkable strikes and throws a monkey wrench into your vacation plans, it’s crucial that you have travel USA general insurance to give you the peace of mind and security that you need on your next holiday.

Usually, travel USA general insurance can be purchased in tandem with your trip. Many times an experienced travel agent will recommend the type of travel USA general insurance best suited for your specific plans, and the different companies and levels of coverage available.

The most common types of travel USA general insurance plans will cover most of the following mishaps:

1. Trip cancellation

2. Delayed departure

3. Lost luggage

4. Theft or damaged items

5. Emergency evacuation

6. Medical expenses

7. Accidental death, injury or disablement

Should a vacation disaster strike on your next trip, it’s important to know how to open a travel USA general insurance claim that will be taken care of quickly and with the least amount of inconvenience to you as possible. There are steps that you can take to make your claim a hassle free experience.

Lost or stolen items:

When making a claim through your travel USA general insurance company for items or luggage and that has been lost or stolen, many of the steps you take are similar to those taken with a home owner’s or renters USA general insurance policy. You will need to be as meticulous and detail oriented as possible in your claim.

If you are traveling with valuables, it’s important to have receipts for those items and list those with your insurer prior to your departure. This way, should the worst happen, your insurer is pre-warned and can easily assess the value of the items in question, getting you a check much faster than having to wait for independent appraisals and proof, or even worse, a claim denial.

If you aren’t traveling with any items over $100 dollars, you won’t necessarily need a receipt, but it’s still wise to keep a list of things that you packed for your vacation handy in the event that you need to make a claim for lost luggage or clothing.

My experience
Posted by admin in Expert Advice on 12 27th, 2008| | Comments Off

In my experience, the airline can put you on another flight, but they’re not required to. They’re also not required to put you up in a hotel if the cancellation situation is due to the weather. It comes down to the weather being an “act of god” situation, so in fairness they can’t really be asked to go to a great amount of trouble or expense.

I would suggest anyone to take out “Multi trip travel USA general insurance” as most annual multi-trip travel USA general insurance policies would have ‘Travel Delay’ cover included. This will usually pay you a compensatory benefit based on delays in excess of 12 hours. These sums are normally per person but low for the first 12 hours and an additional amount for each subsequent 12 hours delayed.

This section will include ‘Travel Delay Abandonment’ which means after a certain period i.e. 12 hours; you can cancel the entire trip and claim for the original trip costs. It is unlikely that any such policy would cover you for additional accommodation or travel costs as this has always been the responsibility of the airline.

What are your legal rights as passenger if or when your flight is either delayed or canceled? I found the following information online. Quote- “In practice, many airlines will provide refreshments or accommodation for passengers whose flights have been canceled or are subject to a long delay. Or they may transfer passengers to other flights. But very few will voluntarily pay compensation in addition (unless under EU Regulation 261/2004.)

Nonetheless, under provisions in the Montreal Convention, an airline is liable for “damage occasioned by delay”, up to a limit of 4,150 Special Drawing Rights (SDR). However, an airline may not be liable if “it proves that it and its servants and agents took all measures that could reasonably be required to avoid the damage or that it was impossible for them to take such measures”. In practice, any payment that an airline is prepared to make for a delay will at best be reimbursement of expenses that it accepts were directly and necessarily incurred as a result of the delay (such as meals or overnight hotel accommodation). Airlines generally do not accept any liability for inconvenience, stress or any consequential losses arising from the delay, unless they are required to do so as a result of court action.

When a flight is canceled, an airline is contractually obliged to provide alternative transportation (not necessarily by air) or a refund.

Importance of insurance
Posted by admin in Expert Advice on 12 27th, 2008| | Comments Off

The summer of 2007 won’t be forgotten in a hurry. I was flying to Thailand, eager to spend two weeks at Patong Beach in Phuket, and two weeks in Bangkok. Of course I was excited, more so because eleven friends would be accompanying me. Vivid images of shopping in the busy markets and visiting the beautiful James Bond Island intruded on my sleep.

Unfortunately I had overlooked one very important thing, and that was travel USA general insurance. I was as fit as a fiddle and had no known ailments to worry about. Nothing would spoil my holiday,

nothing except a very bad bout of food poisoning courtesy of one of the unhygienic street stalls selling kebabs. This had me off my feet for three days and spending in excess of $55 Australian dollars on medication.

Oh well on with the holiday! Once I was back on my feet we were off exploring, and what better way to excplore the area than to hire a tuk tuk. We spotted a sign offering cheap elephant treks, now this would be exciting! Unfortunately it was a little too exciting for the elephant who was transporting my friend Christine and I. As he descended the muddy slopes of the riverbed he slipped, taking himself and us his passengers, with him. Although he stabilized himself, it was a little too late, Christine and I were slapped in the face by a tree branch. Thus one chipped tooth! (Mine) I kid you not, I was soon to find where the local dentist was located.

Well my friends had a field day laughing at my Billy Bob tooth, while I was cussing loudly and wondering if bad luck really did come in threes. It wasn’t long until I found out that in my case it does! Being a teatotaller I am rather inexperienced when it comes to alochol. Not so my good friends who decided to ply me with Pena Coladas. If you’ve ever tried these drinks you will know that 8 of them is a little too much when guzzled in quick succession. Needless to say the telegraph pole right beside the bar’s entrance, did NOT give me right of way. Outcome? Bad concussion and one split eye. Yes, self inflicted I agree, but a costly accident when you do not have health USA general insurance.

I look back and laugh at these accidents, and they certainly make for top entertainment when the family gets together to watch it all on video cam. But in hindsight, travel USA general insurance would have saved me a heap of money. When I compare the low cost of travel USA general insurance and the huge amount of money I outlayed for medical treatment, dental, as well as pharmaceutical needs, I berate myself for not ensuring
